Add a language to a template

2 min read

Who can use this feature

Rights: the Admin right on Templates.

Location: the Templates page, under Content, inside a template being created or edited.

Setup: the content of your default language, which is the language of your user account, filled in first.

Overview

A template has to cover every language of the surveys it carries. If it does not, dispatching the survey reopens the editor so you can complete the missing language before sending, which is a poor moment to discover it.

Add a language and fill it in

  1. Find a multilingual section. Which sections are multilingual depends on the channel:
    • for an email in Basic mode, Subject, Redirection URL, Content and Social networks;
    • for an email in Custom mode, Subject and Content;
    • for SMS and WhatsApp, Content.

    Each of them carries a language tab, a + button and an auto-translation icon.

  1. Add the language. Click + and pick a language code from the list. A new tab appears beside the existing one and becomes active. There is no limit on the number of languages a template can hold.
  1. Fill in the content, or translate it automatically. Type the content in the new tab, or click the auto-translation icon beside + to fill every added language from your main language. Two behaviours are worth knowing before you click it: it re-translates every language on every run, so manual edits made earlier are overwritten, and it falls back to the default language content when the source language is empty. If the engine fails, the content is left untranslated rather than emptied. Text produced this way stays editable afterwards.
  1. Check each language in the preview. The preview follows the active tab, so switch through your tabs and read them. An orange warning on a tab means one of its multilingual fields is still incomplete, most often a row in Social networks where the icon or the address is missing.
  1. Save. Click Save at the top right. The template now shows one badge per language in the templates list.

Remove a language

You remove a language from the language tab strip. No confirmation is asked, so make sure you are on the right tab before removing it.
